Immediately after the Folklife Festival, a contingent of Bhutanese traveled across the United States to the University of Texas, El Paso. There, they performed to a crowd of more than seven thousand people in the school’s basketball arena. Most of the buildings at the school are influenced by Bhutanese architecture, since the appearance of an article by John Claude White in the National Geographic of 1914. The administration building, pictured here, is one of more recent construction.
