2009 Membership Registration

brochure_2009

VAST is busy planning the year ahead. We have filled up a couple of “year planner” calendars, trying to see what we can do for 2009. Now that the schools have started, we would like to begin our regular classes on the 14 of March. Registration is open until then. So if you like to express your thoughts in colours, then you are probably an artist, and thats why you should join us. Please drop by in our studio any time, and fill up the registration form. Fees are Nu. 700 for students, and Nu 2000 for the rest. Thats for the whole year.

Here is something from the front page of our registration form.

Voluntary Artists’ Studio, Thimphu (VAST) was established in 1998 by a group of artists using the Artshop Gallery as its base. The artists are from various backgrounds – water colorists, oil painters, designers, photographers, traditional artists etc. The association is essentially an art guild with the explicit mission of promoting the importance and the value of art. By guiding and assisting young artists to explore their full potential, VAST hopes to nurture the creative talent of the Bhutanese youth. It’s programs are open to all art enthusiasts, young and old.

VAST volunteers organize weekend classes for interested youth and adults. Apart from art classes, students and members are also engaged in art talks, exhibitions, camps, projects and film shows that are mainly related to art and other important issues like health and hygiene, environment and cultural heritage.

All these activities are primarily aimed at providing the students and members with an opportunity to participate, explore and develop their talent and at the same time, share social responsibility through art related activities and other socially productive work.

Since 1998, VAST has interacted with more than 1000 young people.

This year VAST will enroll only 40 young members,  from class 6 and above this year.

Last date for enrollment is 14 March 2009.
