I first encountered western art when I was young boy studying in Thimphu.
In 1998 I joined VAST. I am one of the earliest members of VAST Bhutan.
In 2006, I was selected to participate along with a senior artist in the Art Residency Program in Laos, organized by National Faculty of Fine Arts, Sponsored by Asia Art Fund. After that I continued to work as a volunteer, general secretary, art camp coordinator and assistant tutor at VAST. I counseled more than 800 young people on topics ranging from drug addiction to delinquents, high school students and high school dropouts. I have inspired and encouraged them to get under the right guidance and the young artists to pursue their dreams of becoming an artist.
As the torch bearer of contemporary art in Bhutan, I am fully engaged in dedicating myself to the issue of Bhutanese Contemporary Art and in helping the youth of Bhutan with support and dedication for the young and budding artists.
